Answer: once an infrastructure is paid for the cost to pump through the great divide is not going to cost more and not that bigger problem (a strategic tunnel through the Dividing range is nowadays not a problem just a cost which would have to happen with a river as well)

The energy would be provided/generrated would actually mean it would be cheaper with an income

Added to this would be benefits to environment such as reducing CO2, reduce global warming problems, increase rainfall, cleaner air. salinity problems removed. Cleaner Rivers, Healthy water ways, more frogs. less bush fires. more employment, clean beaches, Increased Fish populations both sea and rivers/lakes.
