Question: Does anyone have any experience with the larger units? I've been looking at a couple models at http://www.waterdistiller.com that are self cleaning, and auto fill up with water. They are way cheaper than any other site I've been able to find. Does anyone else know the cheapest place to get a distiller? I wanted one of the Polar Bears, they are the only large ones I've seen that are independly tested for performance Any comments would be appreciated. Is distilled water as good as Dr Weil says? I know when I started drinking distilled water, my breathing improved a lot. But I'm not sure if it's from the water, or if it's from me not drinking as much pepsi.
Answer: Distilled water or probably reverse osmosis water has almost all the minerals, bacteria and other things removed in the processing. It is not the same as bottled drinking water. Bottled distilled water is NOT synonymous with bottled sterile water. Tap water, in the US, is more bacteriologically pure than any bottled water, unless it's specifically marked "Sterile". None of the popular commercially bottled drinking waters found in the market are biologically sterile, NONE! Naturally occuring minerals in drinking water are not considered contaminants, in fact those same minerals are absolutely essential for sustaining life... if the world's oceans, lakes and streams were all composed of distilled water they would also be completely devoid of life as we know it... none of us would be here. Home distillation systems, in fact, produce bacteriologically UNsafe drinking water.... there are no minerals, true, but unless distilled water is consumed instantaneously upon condensation it would need to be boiled and immediately bottled under sterile conditions, as there is nothing present in distilled water to prevent it from quickly becoming bacteriologically contaminated unless sterile laboratory conditions exist and sterile laboratory procedures are carefully adhered to in your home during all phases from the very moment of condensation until consumption. Quit jerking yourself off, perhaps your sanity will return.
