Question: though our water is mostly perfectly good, we had an outbreak of giardia & cryposporidium (iirc?) a few years ago... so for a baby, i'd always boil it just in case, cos those sorts of things can just wipe them out & it's really no trouble to boil it.
Answer: I am totally against bottled water because I am a cheapskate and I regard going to a lot of trouble to get water that 'tastes good' is way too much trouble to be practical and a completely unnecessary self indulgence. DS and DIL traveled miles to get water from some spring and I thought the whole idea was a complete waste of time and money. The only place I drink bottled water is Cozumel, and even then I don't go to a lot of trouble to brush my teeth in bottled water, not use ice, not eat fresh vegetables etc. Never had any intestinal problems when traveling. I have trained myself to drink tap water and not worry about the taste. I didn't like the water in Louisiana because it tasted like oil or the water in Nassau which tasted like swimming pool water, but I drank it anyway. DH did have a filter on the city house for awhile, and we had a thing on the water in RI because it had a high iron content.
