Question: For an environmental magazine article on bottled and purified water, I'm looking for current information on the industry. I'm especially interested in finding out if some bottled water is a scam (does the company really use tap water, etc.). Also, what are some of the positive or negative health implications of drinking bottled/mineral water vs. tap water? Human aspect: 1. If you drink bottled/purified water, why? 2. If you drink purified water, do you use your own filter? What kind? 3. Do you think bottled water tastes better than tap water? 4. Do you think bottled water is better for you? Why? 5. How does bottled water compare to drinking tap water? 6. What are your favorite brands and why? Are you swayed by the bottle design or marketing tactics?
Answer: You should try to get hold of the EC regulations on the definition of a Mineral Water. Lots of water do not properly qualify for this denomination. Here in Sweden I believe only Ramlosa could qualify as "EC mineral water". I don't know why at the moment. But there are several other good waters available in the shops here. Many breweries use tap water in their process, though treated and purified. You can check, I think this is the case for Carlsberg and Tuborg in Denmark.
