Question: It puzzles me, if tapwater is palatable enough to replace some of the water in a bought bottle, why you buy it in the first place! We have always just drunk tapwater, until the drought caused such an abundance of chemicals in the water it tasted terrible. Now, even though we have plenty of water, they're still putting too much chemical in it, so we continue filtering it for consumption. When we go to Johannesburg, we just drink it from the tap. Why do you pay so much for bottles of something you get anyway, at a very much smaller cost? If you're trvelling, of course, it's convenient, but to buy it by the case at home
Answer: Buy an extra case of bottled water. Pour 1/3 out of each bottle, and put the bottles in your freezer. A large chunk of ice will last several hours, and because they're 1/3 empty, you can add tap water and have cold water to drink immediately. Once the ice has melted, refill and refreeze the bottle. Your bathtub/shower is your new best friend. You have nothing more important to do today than to read "War and Peace" while sitting in a tub full of water. Except reading "Gone with the Wind" in a tub full of water. If you have a plant mister, it's now a Cheryl mister. Store it in the fridge between spritzes for extra cooling.
