Question:
So what's the consensus of opinion here? Are we telling Pkelly it is safe for him to drink the tap water in Bangkok? Can we ever agree on anything in this website?

Answer: Actually, it is somewhat complicated. Different persons have different resistances to different organisms. Some people will get sick by drinking the water, some won't.

I lived in Bangkok for almost a year. I resorted to drinking tap water once or twice, late at night, having run out of bottled water. I always used tap water for my coffee, although it was never boiled. I never had a problem with water or food . . . but the air pollution (I lived on Silom-Suriwong) gave me fits. I had a bad case of chemical bronchitis/preumonia.

Drink the tap water . . . if someone has a strong constitution they usually know it . . . and in that case the water is safe, IMO.

And I drink the tap water in Chiangmai on occasion
