Question:
The Ice Maker in my Kenmore Fridge (Model 25357682791, side-by-side) has stopped making ice. The maker does cycle normally, but when it calls for water no water shows up, but you can hear a slight buzzing noise. The drinking water dispenser works normallyIt points me to the ice maker itself. But what's the problem? It seems that it is not sending the correct voltage/current to the valve and hence the water doesn't flow. What can I check? What should the voltage coming out of the connector be? What can be replaced on the ice maker to fix this (it's the old component type - i.e. two plastic gears on the outside)?

Answer: Probably one of the many switches inside the thing behind the two gears? I took one apart and checked everthing out, could not get it to work, thats 10 years ago, had the manual (seperate manual for the icemaker) it was for whirlpool, might be same thing. I found on this or someother website that a appliance repair persons way of taking care of this is just get a new $100 icemaker, i did one up on that an bought a new ref.

After about 30 years working on them and other refrigeration equipment I have found the best way to fix refrigerator ice maker : First remove top 2 screws and the 1 lower screw holding it on the wall . When it drops down unplug the wire going in wall of refrigerator. Walk to kitchen trash can and drop it in there . Call sears service center and give model number of refrigerator and get price for new one and ride over there and pick a new one up. re install as you took it out.

There is old rules that says : Don't play with load guns , Don't piss in to the wind , and last Don't work on refrigerator ice makers.
