Question: The INSTANT ASOUP kitchen is looking for an industrial water filter - does anyone know what filters lther kitchens are using, and where to obtain them at this late date?
Answer: tough to find those big chrome katadyne filters. if a number of folks have portable filters that can help a lot. (It's usually not difficult to get 10 gallons of spring water, but it takes a long time to filter it). This is a lot of green for most people but I like the "Sweetwater" brand (80 bux or so) it's easy to work and it has an iodine filter that gets viruses. These are rated for 200 gls on a cartridge, 90 gals for the virus element. Find Forrest Greenleaf, I helped him make a system for kiddie village and arizona family, that used an elevated bucket to pressurize a hose and feed the intake of a 2-stage filter system. Hopefully Forrest kept up with the filters. I remember how to set it up... It's one of those things that makes you add "block and tackle" to the supposedly minimal, light packing job :-) Do we know something already about the h2o in pa? I'd pray that all we have to do is boil. Rolling boil for one minute kills everything, according to ORegon, but conventional wisdom still says 10 minutes (to be hippieproof, naturally).
