Ok guys and gals what do you good and learned folks consider to be your topten absolute essential items of kit you believe you should keep about yourpersons, beit in pockets, pouches, bum bags, perks or vests.My Top is is1 Lock Knife (CS Voyager)2 Multitool ( Gerber600)3 Flashlight ( Prefocussed LED light)4 Specs / Shades5 Mobile Phone6 Wallet ( with steel BCB credit card tool & Tool Logic card tool)7 Storm proof Lighter8 Mini Medical kit9 Cash ( notes and Coins)10 Self Winding watch with Sunn Micro compass on same strap.

Can we keep guns out of this discussion if possible or to accomodate the fremen of the US make it the top 11 for them if they insist of listen a gun .

Answer: There is no one kit consisting of 10 items that would cover every possiblesituation.

If I am in a survival situation my priorities would be.

1 Get out of danger.2. Shelter.3. Water.4. Food.

Things I carry all of the time...

1. Cell phone. Contact vital services, friends, family. Might be able touse one to get a ride from cab, or friend.2. Swiss Army knife. Not as rugged as multi-tool, but for my purposes justas useful. A matter of taste. Can use in repairs, to help make shelters,fire, etc.3. 5 led flashlight. Don't know the name, but the one I am using now willburn for 24 hrs. straight, and batteries have a shelf life of 10 years. Canbe used for light or signaling help.4. Iodine. Anti-septic, and water purification. Bandages can be made fromclothing if nothing else available.5. 2 non lubricated condoms (Always gets a laugh from this one). Used fortemporary water storage and purification.6. Fire making tools. 2 bic lighters, and 1 mag/flint. (calling theseitems one).7. 1 bar of tri-oxane fuel...can be broken into 3 parts to help startstubborn fires.8. Squares of aluminum foil... can be made into expedient pots and pails.Can also be used for signaling.9. Simple fishing kit. For traps, mending clothing, tying something down.Can even be used to catch fish.10. Container to hold it all.. Small plastic one that can also be used tocontain other things.

If I am planning to be out in the woods, I also bring along a military rainponcho. Shelters, ground cloth, expedient packs, small raft for gear ifwater crossing is needed.

Then we get into my field packs, but that is another subject.
