Question: I am interested to find out just how many people have experienced theproblem of carbon granules (gritty bits) escaping into the watersystem and causing problems.Anyone on this group had experience or know anyone who has?
Answer: Eating or drinking activated charcoal causes no problems, indead it is usedin some medicines. The instructions say wash out the system after fitting a filter I have hadslightly black water at this stage. No problem here. We did use a Jug this weekend to chill some water in the fridge, that hadpreviously been used to measure the Blue toilet chemical, of course well, well scrubbed, water still tasted like blue chemical though You mean to say that you drink the water?Sorry mate bottled or filtered water and keep the aquaroll stuff forwashing etc. We still use Puriclean on the system but there are no end of places incaravan systems where there could be a lot worse grow in between use.We use our van every fortnight though. As a more serious aside. Take a look at your pipework in your van. As it travels around thevan, if you're lucky it will be level and above the drain point. If you're like everybody else the pipework will be lower than thedrain point, it will sag in places so that water will always stay inthere. One of the most lethal things in any water system is where any watergoes into a stagnant leg. Legionnaires etc live and grow there. Manypeople don't use the shower in the bathroom for fear of damp so theshower head becomes a breeding ground. On a commercial site recently we saw no end of people taking theirtoilets to the water tap to either fill up or add water to the bottomtank.
