Question: First of all, you don't get your water directly from Lake Shasta even if youlived ON the lake. Unless you like oil and fuel from boaters, bacteria fromdiapers thrown overboard from rented houseboats, animal , etc. Your water is treated just like any other municipal system. And you don'thave any control of HOW it is treated. So maybe you might want to look intoalternative sources of water afterall.
Answer: I don;t know. I'll tell you why I do ( we have similar systemns at differentstores here). Preiodically we get aa report from our municipal water compny that has theanalysis of water quality. For a couple of years fecal coliform numbers werehi9hg - municipalities upstream (particularly Charloote NC where therepuglicon coujnty council refused to fund repairs until the EPA sued) werehave many overflows of the sewage treatment syste, We spent a few millionupgrading, anyway. In addition to high - but now legal - fecal coliformlevels they report high levels of hydrocarbons, arsenic, cadmium, andchromium. While we were able to get a bond issue for the fecal coliform, we cannot geta bond issue to upgrade the plant to reduce the heavy metals. So I pay aquarter for a gallons of reverse osmosis water for drinking. A dollar a weekaint much.
