Question: I saerch a internet adress of a salt-water-filter-dealer.The filter must be light and small.I need sweetwater and have only salt water. It is a great problem...!
Answer: There is no such thing as a "filter" to remove s Salt water can beconverted to pure drinking water with a reverse osmosis purification device(water maker), such as the ones commonly used in ships or big yachts. Theyuse electricity to force the water molecules through a special membrane, leaving the resulting brine behind to be flushed away. They are _not_ lightor small, they are quite expensive (at least $2000US), and use large amountsof electricity, but they are easy to find at any good marine supply. Theyare not portable - they must be plumbed into the water system and have areliable power source. I have seen a "tabletop" reverse osmosis unit for home use (110 v ac) thatis slow, but does provide a few gallons a day. It was about $400US at alocal hardware store. It sat on display for over a year, not one was sold, and eventually it was sent back to the distributor as a lost cause. That wasprobably more because there is plenty of good fresh water available aroundhere than any other reason. In an area with bad or inadequate fresh water itmight be a good device. But you could buy a lot of bottled water for theprice. There may be small lightweight distillation devices available, but I do nothave any personal knowledge of them. What you end up with mainly depends on how much water per day you require. That will determine the size and cost of the unit. I would recommend that you call or visit a large marine supply and talk tothe sales people there. They may have some small units. I too looked on theinternet and found nothing of much value.
