Answer: You could do it yourself, if you are handy and can sweat pipe. A few guys at work have done the same thing. They made up a system with 2 filters. That way they could transfer the flow to one and when the filter got dirty, they close two valves and open the other two and use the second filter while they change out the first one to get it ready when the second one gets dirty. All it will cost is the 2 filters and 4 ball valves and some 90 deg elbows and a length of pipe. If this is a new house you may have the plastic pipe and that will make the job even easier.

If you get a plumber, I would guess about 3-500 in labor plus parts.
