Question: Does anyone know what a "NSF 42" rating means to me when I read it on awater filter package? I looked at several water filters that attach to thekitchen faucet. They all stated that their product is NSF 42 compliant butthey listed different contaminates that they filter out. Three differentPUR brand filters all stated that they are NSF 42 rated but the moreexpensive ones filtered out more contaminates. Are the NSF 42 and NSF 53ratings lists of test standards? Does anyone know of an NSF web site?
Answer: Yes, filter that carry the NSF symbol must pass rigid testing toqualify for their ratings. For more information about the NSF, go to: http://www.culligansystems.com/nsf.html To get to NSF's pages, go to: www.nsf.org
