Question: I am a student researching methods of removing alkylphenols fromdrinking water supply as a part of my chemistry a-level course - myextended investigation. I chose this topic as alkylphelons are one of agroup of compounds suspected to contribute to the decline in malefertility in recent years, and my work constitutes a proportion of myfinal mark. More details can be found athttp://www.geocities.com/siliconvalley/4934/research.html . I wouldgreatly appreciate any information or advice you could give me(constructive, please!!) concerning any aspect of this area of research orsuggestions for suitable purification techniques - anything you feel couldbe useful. Please mail me at v...@bigfoot.com - thankyou for yourassistance.
Answer: I have been conducting work with alkylphenols for over two years now. Ihave developed several methods for detecting them in water, sediments, andtissues. I use solid-phase extraction to extract them from water. They arenot generally present in drinking water though. Anyway, let me know how I canhelp.
