Water Purification Third World

Question:
I'd be glad of your help. I am moving to a third world country soon wherethe quality of drinking water is not as high as in the UK.

Could you put me on to some suggestions as to how I might manage this. There is no mains supply. The expected supply is rainwater which needs to bestored. I realise that stored water attracts pathogens in a short space oftime.

Answer: May not be directly related to your question:

-- In high risk places, visitors don't even use un-boiled water forbrushing teeth.

-- Visitors probably won't drink cold water in restaurants, but at timesmay not relate the ice cubes to water.

-- In high altitude countries, boiling point is below 100*C. Don't knowhow they tackle this.
